Szlak św. Melchiora Grodzieckiego obejmuje 11 miejscowości położonych w Polsce, Czechach, Austrii i na Słowacji, związanych z biografią męczennika, stanowiących miejsca spoczynku jego relikwii lub w szczególny sposób zasłużonych dla kultywowania pamięci o nim. Niektóre z nich są od dawna doceniane przez podróżujących (np. Praga, Wiedeń, Cieszyn). Jednak na trasie znalazły się również miejscowości jeszcze nieodkryte dla turystyki, a nie mniej urokliwe i warte odwiedzenia (np. Grodziec, Jindřichův Hradec czy Humenné). O kolejności rozmieszczenia kolejnych punktów na trasie zadecydowały względy logistyczne (nie są więc one uporządkowane np. wg chronologii życia świętego). Szlak liczy w sumie ponad 1600 km. Część obiektów związanych ze św. Melchiorem już dzisiaj nie istnieje, w związku z czym zdecydowano się na włączenie do przewodnika zabytków pośrednio związanych z postacią męczennika.

Driving along it you can visit attractive and picturesque towns, some of them used to be health-resorts some still are. Besides sightseeing and admiring the beauty of the landscape you can enjoy health and beauty treatments as well. It is two-day cross-border car trip.

The tourist product “The Princely Route – Via Ducalis” refers to the trail named the same way. Its originator and promoter is Mariusz Makowski. (more information we can find in the publication Droga Książęca – Via Ducalis. Zamki, pałace, kościoły i muzea na Śląsku Cieszyńskim [The princely route – via Ducalis. The Castles, palaces, churches and museums in the Cieszyn Silesia] Wyd. Starostwo Powiatowe w Cieszynie, Cieszyn 2005). Driving along it you can visit selected attractive and picturesque towns and villages in the Euroregion where exeptionally beautiful monuments of cultural heritage have been preserved to the present day and where you can find remains of the rule of the Piast and Habsburg dynasties.
